Gamescom Cologne

August in Cologne can only mean one thing: Gamescom. The world’s largest event celebrating interactive games and entertainment enjoyed another successful year.

This was the second year that F1 were brought on board to provide technical support at the popular trade fair.

- Over 250,000 attendees
- 557 exhibitors
- More than 300 games

Need to shop, but don’t want to miss the game? A supermarket trolley with iPad dock could be the answer....

Thanks to Sky teaming up with Sainsbury’s and the use of Sky Go app for the iPad, missing the game due to a vital shopping trip may all be a thing of the past - yes indeed you did read this correctly!

And if that’s not enough the trolley will also have built in solar powered charger so no fear of running out of power at that vital free kick moment. Complete with speakers, and proximity censors to prevent you being a danger to others, Sky and Sainsbury’s pretty much have it covered!

Sony’s PlayStation Vita

We spotted the PS Vita at Gamescom - a very neat handheld which seems to be ticking all the boxes so far.

The Spec:
16 million colour 960x544 OLED touchscreen, twin cameras, twin speakers, microphone, twin analogue sticks, powerful quad-core processor based on the ARM Cortex A9, four to five hours of battery life, 512MB of RAM (and some 128MB of VRAM to go alongside this).

Release date:
2012. I guess we’d better hold off on adding this to our Christmas wish lists...
